So He Popped The Question...Now What?

The engagement period of your wedding is a very important phase in your overall bridal experience.

Take time to enjoy the attention before you become consumed with the wedding planning frenzy.

Here are a few tips to help you enjoy the engagement before the CT Wedding planning begins.

Announce Your Engagement

Tell your parents first and immediately after you have accepted the marriage proposal.  If the bridal parents have not yet met, plan a dinner party inviting both sets of parent’s for an official introduction.

Schedule Your CT Wedding Engagement Photo Session

Once you have notified your family and friends, contact CT wedding photographers to schedule an engagement photo session.  It is important to have engagement photos taken as soon after the engagement as possible.

If your family is planning an engagement party, notify your CT wedding photographer about the occasion.  Sending personalized engagement invitations complete with an engagement photo is a thoughtful way to personally notify friends and family.

Hire Your CT Wedding Photographer To Photograph Your Engagement Party

Make arrangements with your CT wedding photographer to attend your engagement party, taking candid shots of the event.  Engagement party photographs are a priceless addition to the family wedding album.

Notify the newspapers of your upcoming CT wedding.

Newspaper engagement announcements provide wide spread notification to acquaintances and professional contacts that you are engaged. Upon selecting the different publications in which you are choosing to make the announcement, visit each website to locate specific requirements and guidelines for engagement notifications.  Include an engagement photo with each announcement notice.  Your CT wedding photographer can provide specific photographs for the newspaper announcement.

Select a date for your CT wedding.

Additional decisions that should be made at this time are selecting the site for the CT wedding ceremony, CT wedding reception, who will officiate at the ceremony and how many guests will you invite.  Establishing these key elements of the wedding ceremony will provide a solid foundation as you begin the initial planning stages of your wedding.

A Wedding Demands Organization,

A personal wedding organizer will help to keep you organized and make your wedding planning experience a success.  It can be a simple 81/2 X 11 inch spiral notebook and an empty twelve-month calendar or copies of a blank calendar in which you write the monthly dates.

Don’t Read Bridal Magazine Just For The Articles

Once you are engaged, keep an eye open whenever you read a magazine or other advertisements for images of flowers, color schemes, dresses, tuxedos, menu items, decorations and any other bridal accessories that catch your eye.  Gathering visual images as you prepare and plan your wedding will help to guide each CT vendors as they create your dream wedding.

Make Your CT Wedding Theme As Unique As Your Relationship

Take time to create or discover a unique element or moment in your relationship and build your wedding theme upon it.  Many couples use their occupations, a dream vacation, cultural values, shared vacation spot or a fairy tale as the basis for their wedding theme.  It is your wedding; make sure it reflects your relationship.

Don’t Shop For A Dress Until You Know What You Want

If you are a bride that has a very clear image of your dream dress, try to sketch a rough outline of the dress in your wedding planner.  If you have seen a picture of the dress in a magazine, cut the picture out and glue it into your planner.

Look For Ideas Everywhere~ Online, Retail Stores, Catalogs And Magazines

The more informed you are as a consumer, the better decisions you will make as you meet with the CT wedding vendors for your wedding.  Online shopping provides a wonderful format for comparison-shopping for valuable wedding tools and products.  This is often a great way to gather ideas that you can then purchase through local vendors.

Begin Interviewing CT Wedding Vendors

It is best to make your initial contact with CT wedding vendors through the telephone.  This information gathering process will allow you to discuss basic facts about each vendor’s wedding services, get an overall feel for the vendor’s customer service style and establish a first impression of the company.
