Misc Photos
While driving around town, I will often stop and snap a few photos if I see something interesting...unfortunately, I rarely do anything with these photos.

Here are a few I found in a folder while cleaning up the folders on my desktop.

The first was from a fire that happened in Branford a couple of weeks ago and the other are from a stop at the Supply Pond in Branford.

Branford's Number 1 Fan
Henry is Branford's Number One Fan...I have always wanted to take photos of him and yesterday at the Branford vs North Haven baseball game, I finally did. Here are two of my favorites from the day.

Branford won the game 3-0 and clinched the Division Championship.

Allison and Jason Engagement at Hammonasset
Here are a few favorites from Jason and Allison's engagement session yesterday at Hammonasset. The weather looked a little iffy at the beginning, but it worked out just fine and we got some great images.

Pet Portraits CT
I don't spend near enough time taking photos of our house full of pets. Yesterday while playing around with my camera at home, I got this portrait of our puppy Sophie that I loved. Pets are very hard to photograph, but when you get a good one, its a good feeling.

CIAC Boys Basketball- Branford vs Bristol Central
The Branford boys basketball team won its first round game in the CIAC State Tournament last night and I was there to cover the excitement.

Branford trailed by 11 points with less than two minutes remaining in the game and came back to win on three free throws by A.J. Johnson with .06 left on the clock.

Here are few images of the celebration...the final score is in the second photos.

Engagement Photos at Mystic CT
I was at Mystic Seaport yesterday with Lynnea and Ken for engagement photos. It was the first time I have ever shot in Mystic and I could spend an entire day there easy...there were so many great spots to take photos.

The weather was a little iffy at the start of the day, but it held out for us. It was a lot of fun and so nice to be outside after doing indoor portraits for the past three months. Lynnea and Ken are getting married at the Seaport in July...it should be a great time.

Real Estate Head Shots
One of my goals for 2008 is to get more corporate photography jobs...so far so good. I have already secured three small corporate photography jobs in the month of January. I have two in the works that are not quite finalized yet.

One of the jobs was a Real Esate head shot for Frank Hird, commercial real estate agent with OR&L in Branford. The photo is below. I try to make this as easy as possible, since I know business people are very busy. Frank walked out with his image on a CD-Rom the day of the photo shoot and I received an email from the corporate office telling me how happy they were with the service.

Over the next two months, I plan on adding a corporate photography website that detail all of the jobs I have done in the past two years. I will post a link as soon as the site is finished.

Local Corporate Photography Project
I was recently contracted to work on a Corporate Photography project for Stearns Bank in Minneapolis, MN. The project included a portrait of a Branford business owner, KJ Patel, and his family. The portrait was used in a promotional flyer for the bank. The final product is below.

New Basketball Lighting
I took a trip to New York City this week to buy a set of Pocket Wizards...the basic purpose of these little gadgets is to allow you to fire a flash from a remote location. I tried them out for the first time the other night at a high school basketball game and was amazed at how different images can look when you change your lighting to different locations. Up until this point, I have always used the flash attached to my camera.

The following shots were taken with two lights...one near half court and one near the baseline...I am hoping to get better with these over the winter...I created some nice images, but to be honest, most were by mistake.

Enjoy

New Photoshop Technique
I have a pretty good handle on Photoshop, but it never ceases to amaze me how powerful the program is. I bought a new book "The Photoshop CS3 Book for Digital Photographers" by Schott Kelby and learned this new technique.

I have always liked the photo, but this a compeltely different twist and I thought it looked pretty good.
